What Is a Horn Gun?

A horn gun is a portable train horn gun powered by your cordless drill battery — no compressor, no wiring, no vehicle install required.

Built around real metal trumpets and a quiet on-board air pump, a horn gun delivers a true locomotive blast — typically 130-150 decibels — directly off the same battery you already use in your power tools. Snap in a Milwaukee® M18, DeWalt® 20V MAX, Makita® 18V LXT, Ryobi® ONE+ or compatible pack, pull the trigger, and you have a train horn gun ready to use anywhere you go.

Unlike a 12-volt vehicle horn that needs an air tank, hoses and a relay harness, a battery-powered horn gun is plug-and-play. There's nothing to install, nothing to drill, nothing to wire. You're 60 seconds from your first 150 dB blast. That's why our horn guns are popular with boaters, off-roaders, sports fans, ranchers, RV owners, pranksters, construction crews and anyone who needs a train-loud signal on demand.

Every horn gun ships fully assembled and pre-paired with a wireless remote (range up to 160 ft), so a single trigger pull or a remote button press delivers the same authentic train horn sound — every time, anywhere.

How a Horn Gun Works

Three steps from box to a 150 dB train-horn blast — no install, no tools, no vehicle wiring.

1

Snap in a battery

Slide your existing cordless-drill battery into the horn gun base. Milwaukee® M18, DeWalt® 20V MAX, Makita® 18V, Ryobi® ONE+ and more all work without an adapter.

2

Pull the trigger or press the remote

The wireless remote pairs in two seconds and triggers your horn gun from up to 160 feet away. Or use the on-board trigger for hands-on control.

3

150 dB train horn on demand

Real metal trumpets push out a true train-horn blast. No air tank, no compressor, no warm-up — just press, hear, and turn heads.

How Loud Is a Train Horn Gun?

Our horn guns deliver a true 150 dB locomotive blast — louder than a chainsaw, on par with a jet engine at takeoff. See where a horn gun ranks against everyday loud sounds.

Loudest horn gun I've ever used. Set it off at a tailgate and people two lots over were laughing — total crowd-pleaser. The Milwaukee battery I had on hand snapped right in.

Bought the Quad horn gun for my boat. The remote works at the bow while I'm at the helm — way better than scrambling for the dash horn. Build quality is solid.

Used it on the ranch to scare coyotes. One blast and they're gone for the night. No wiring, no compressor — just press the trigger. Worth every penny.

Horn Gun FAQ

What is a horn gun?

A horn gun is a portable train horn powered by your cordless drill battery. It uses real metal trumpets and an on-board air pump to deliver a 130-150 dB locomotive blast — without needing a compressor, air tank or vehicle wiring.

How loud is a train horn gun?

Our horn guns range from 130 dB to 150 dB depending on the model. For reference, that's louder than a chainsaw (110 dB), about as loud as a jet engine at takeoff (140 dB), and on par with a real locomotive horn (130 dB). Always wear hearing protection if you stand close to one in use.

What batteries fit a horn gun?

Every horn gun is built around a specific battery brand. We currently support Milwaukee® M18 (18V), DeWalt® 20V MAX, Makita® 18V LXT, Ryobi® ONE+ (18V), Skil® PWRCore 20, Black+Decker® 20V MAX, Craftsman® V20, Bauer® 20V Hypermax and Hercules® 20V. Pick the brand you already own — no adapter needed.

Does the horn gun come with a remote?

Yes. Every horn gun ships with a wireless remote, pre-paired and tested. Range is up to 160 ft line-of-sight. You can pair additional remotes (sold separately) to one horn gun in about 2 seconds.

Is a horn gun legal?

A horn gun is legal to own and use on private property in all 50 US states. Local noise ordinances may restrict use in residential areas, and most jurisdictions require lower-decibel signaling on public roads — check your state's vehicle code before mounting one to a car or boat. For events, sports, off-road, ranches, marine and private-property use, a horn gun is unrestricted.

Will the horn gun damage my hearing?

At 130-150 dB the horn gun is loud enough to cause hearing damage with prolonged or close-range exposure. We recommend ear protection (foam plugs or muffs) when you fire it within 10 feet, and never aim it directly at a person.

Can I use it with my Milwaukee M18 drill battery?

Yes — if you buy the Milwaukee version of the horn gun. It accepts any standard Milwaukee M18 battery (2.0Ah, 4.0Ah, 5.0Ah, 6.0Ah, 8.0Ah, 12.0Ah). Aftermarket M18-compatible batteries also work.

How long does the battery last per blast?

A standard 4.0Ah battery delivers hundreds of full-length blasts per charge. Each trigger pull draws a small fraction of the pack — even prolonged use at events typically uses less than 25% of one battery.

Where do horn guns ship from?

Every horn gun ships same-day (Mon-Fri) from our California warehouse. Domestic US orders typically arrive in 2-5 business days. International orders are accepted from the US, Canada, Mexico, UK, EU and Australia.

What's the warranty?

Every horn gun ships with a 1-year limited warranty covering manufacturing defects. We also provide lifetime support — if you ever need help with pairing, adjustment or replacement parts, our team is available by email.
